Connect Setek WiFi Extender to TP-Link Smart WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX10)
Connection
Plug the Setek extender into a wall outlet. not too far from your router. like same room ideally. don’t try to be fancy and do it in the garage first.
Wait for the lights. usually there’s a power light and a wifi light. give it like 30 seconds. if it’s blinking like a disco, that’s normal.
On your phone or laptop, go to WiFi settings and connect to the Setek network. it’s usually something like “SETEK_2GEXT” or “SETEK_EXT” — no password. if there’s a password, check the little card it came with.
Interface Login
Open a browser and type 192.168.10.1 — that’s the extender’s setup page. sometimes 192.168.0.254 works too, depends on the model.
It’ll ask you to log in. default is usually admin / admin. again, if not, check the sticker on the back.
Once you’re in, it should show a list of available WiFi networks. find your TP-Link one — it’ll be something like TP-Link_AX10_2.4G or TP-Link_AX10_5G.
Click on that, type in your WiFi password. make sure you type it right.
Wait for the Link
Wait. it’ll say “connecting” or something. if it fails, try the 2.4GHz one first — a lot of extenders hate 5GHz for setup.
After it says “success” or whatever, it’ll probably reboot. wait again. lights should stabilize — one steady for power, one steady for signal.
Now check your WiFi list again. you’ll see something like TP-Link_AX10_EXT or SETEK_EXT. connect to that.
Open a browser, run a speed test or just load YouTube. if it works, boom, you’re done.
Troubleshooting Guide: Connect Setek WiFi Extender to TP-Link Smart WiFi 6 Router
Plug the extender in but not too far away
Don’t plug it like three rooms over yet. put it somewhere near the router. like same room near. it’ll save you a lot of walking.
Find the Setek network
So, on your phone or laptop, look for a network name that’s something like SETUP_Setek_XXX or SetekExtender or whatever. sometimes it’s lowercase, sometimes it’s got numbers. connect to that. it probably won’t have internet — that’s fine.
You might get a popup thing that says “set up your extender.” if not, open a browser and type in: 192.168.10.1.
- username: admin
- password: admin
no joke, 99% of the time that’s it.
Scan for WiFi
The extender will do a little scan and show you a list of networks. find your tp-link wifi 6 one — probably named something like TP-Link_XXXX or whatever you called it. Click it, enter your wifi password (yes, your main router password).
If your router has 2.4GHz and 5GHz both active, sometimes the extender freaks out and only connects to one. Usually, the 2.4GHz one works better. if it asks which band — choose 2.4GHz. trust me.
Set the extender’s name
it’ll ask if you want to name your extended network. you can keep it the same name as your router or add “_EXT” at the end. personally, i add _EXT so i know which one i’m on. Then hit save or finish or whatever.
Wait for the reboot (it always takes forever)
It’ll reboot. don’t panic. don’t unplug it. give it like a minute or two. when it’s done, check your WiFi list — you should see the new extended network name pop up.
