This blog will help you perform the Setek Wireless repeater setup with the existing home network so that you can begin connecting to its network in those areas where you never had internet access. Keep reading ahead to know more.
Setek Wireless Repeater Setup: How to Begin?
Unbox the Repeater
You need to begin with unboxing the Setek wireless repeater or the extender. We assume it is a brand-new device. So, open the box and see that you have got everything in good condition. You will get a repeater, power adapter, user guide, etc. You might also get antennas if they are detachable. Some repeater models also have an Ethernet cable in their package. Keep everything that you receive with care.
Note: If this is an old Setek WiFi repeater and you are setting it up once again then make sure that it runs on the factory settings. You need to reset it and then go for the setup process.
Place Setek Wireless Repeater
You should now place your repeater at a suitable place in the home. Since you have invested in a range repeater, the ideal location would be halfway between the host router and the area with no WiFi signals. You should have an available electrical outlet to supply power to the range repeater.
Power Down Host Router
Before proceeding to set up your Setek repeater, we recommend you switch off the host router. This seems a simple step, but this helps to avoid many setup issues beforehand. The router recovers its settings. So power down the router and unplug its power cable for some time.
How to Set Up Setek Wireless Repeater?
Now that you have come to the Setek wireless repeater setup part, use the steps given ahead:
Connect the Repeater to Router
If you want to set up your repeater in the access point mode, then you need to use an Ethernet cable and make a cabled connection between the two devices. You need to connect the LAN port of the router to the Internet port on the Setek wireless repeater.
In case the repeater is to be set up in the extender or repeater mode, then the devices ought to be connected wirelessly.
Supply Power to Devices
You are now required to power on the repeater and the host router. The sequence, however, should be the router first and then the repeater. You should ensure that the devices are receiving a consistent power supply.
Connect to the Network
Now, connect your PC to the Setek repeater’s WiFi. The WiFi name will be SETEK. There is no password to connect to this WiFi. You can also get the information about the WiFi name and password in the user manual or on the label on the repeater.
Log in to the Repeater
Run an internet browser now. Make sure it is updated with the latest version. Insert the IP address 192.168.10.1 in the location bar of the browser. Hitting the Enter key will open the Setek repeater setup window for you.
Follow Setup Instructions
Here, you will be prompted to choose the mode that you want your Setek wireless repeater to operate in. Click Next. The system will now search for available networks. From the list, choose the network that you want to extend or repeat. Input the router’s WiFi password and click Next.
Assign the repeater’s SSID and password now. Finally, when you are done executing all the instructions that appear on the screen, click on Save and you are done setting up your Setek repeater.
You can now connect to your repeater’s network in the dead zones. Check the network signals. If you are not getting very good signals or the Setek WiFi Extender not working properly, then shift the repeater close to the router and see if the signals are good.
In the End
This way by using the simple steps from this guide, you can set up your Setek wireless repeater. We recommend you log in to your repeater now and customize its settings according to your requirements. The same IP address and admin password are used to log in and reach the admin panel of the Setek repeater.
