Why Only Some Devices Connect to New WiFi Extender?
This guide will help you if all client devices in your home can’t connect to your Setek WiFi extender. Here we have penned down the best and most effective solutions to help you connect all the devices to the extender’s network.
Why Can’t All Devices Connect to Setek Extender?
We suggest you have a look at the possible causes that can prevent the network connection to all devices. This will assist you during the troubleshooting process. Here are some common causes:
- The client device is out of range
- Not compatible with extended network band
- The connected devices limit is set on the extender
- Signal interference is stopping the connection
How to Fix the Connection Problem?
Let us now help you get rid of the connection problem with your Setek WiFi extender. Bear in mind that the solutions discussed can be followed even if you own a WiFi extender of any other brand. But before beginning, ensure that signal interference is not the reason behind the problem. Avoid placing the extender close to home appliance, metallic objects, Bluetooth devices etc.
If this does not help, try the fixes presented below:
Bring the Devices in the Network Range
There’s a possibility that you have your device outside the range of the WiFi extender. Bringing the device within the range will help to connect it to the extender’s WiFi.
Higher frequency bands like 5 GHz support higher speeds but short coverage range. Thus, if your extender is broadcasting a higher band, bring the device closer to the extender and then connect.
Turn Off the Set Limit
If you have set a limit to the number of devices that can connect to your WiFi extender, then also such an issue can appear. Perhaps the limit has been breached and hence no further device is getting connected. We suggest you turn off the set limit.
You also have the option to disconnect some extra devices that are connected to the extender. This will allow necessary devices to get connected. It can be a tedious task to disconnect devices one by one from the network. An easy way to do this is to change the WiFi password. This will disconnect all the devices from the network. To change the extender’s WiFi password, do this:
- Connect a computer to extender’s WiFi.
- Visit 192.168.10.1 on a browser.
- Insert login details in the given fields to log in.
- Go to Settings > WiFi Settings.
- Type the new WiFi password.
- Save the settings.
All the devices will now be disconnected from the network. Go ahead and connect only the necessary devices.
Extend Both Network Bands
Certain devices such as smart home devices and security cameras require a lower frequency band to operate. If you have configured your WiFi extender to extend only a 5 GHz network, then these devices will have difficulty connecting to the network.
It so happens that users who use the WPS method for setup, do not configure their extenders to extend the second network band. You should perform the WPS setup steps twice so that extender extends both network bands.
We suggest you to log in to Setek WiFi extender and ensure that it broadcasts both network bands i.e. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. If the 5 GHz band is not broadcasted, configure your extender to do so by going to its settings.
Reset Setek Extender
If everything else fails to help you connect all devices to the network and only some devices connect to new WiFi extender, then you should reset it to the factory defaults. To reset the extender, do this:
- Find the Reset pinhole at the bottom or side panel of the extender.
- With the assistance of a sharp and pointed object, press the button located in the pinhole.
- Holding the button for some time is suggested.
Release the button only after 10 seconds. The extender resets this way. After this, perform Setek setup once again. We suggest you using the web interface method this time. Ensure that you configure your extender to broadcast both 2.4 and 5 GHz network bands.
All In All
If only some devices connect to new WiFi extender network then applying the solutions listed in this post should be helpful to you. We expect that all client devices can now connect and you are having wonderful time browsing internet.
